Guilt Trip, Bangalore

Guilt Trip, Koramangala

A couple of months back I visited this cake and patisserie shop in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. Definitely, not someone with a sweet tooth but I don’t mind the occasional sweet overload. Fuelled by my wife Herwin’s craving for macaroons and my love for cheesecake, we homed in on Guilt Trip. I remember looking at the inviting Red Velvet Cheesecake but hesitating to order it instead of my favourite Blueberry cheesecake.

In the end, because the latter was sold out, I went ahead and ordered the Red Velvet Cheesecake- I thoroughly enjoyed it. Herwin was also more than happy with the macaroons she ordered. Recently, my good friend Nazeef mentioned that the Guilt Trip outlet in Bangalore is quite spacious compared to the one in Hyderabad.

Last week, after a hefty dinner we visited the Guilt Trip outlet which is a stone’s throw from the Sony World signal, Koramangala. We were greeted at the entrance with (personally) one of the most simplest yet colourful logos I’ve seen in recent times. The outlet itself has a cosy setup- they have an outdoor seating section which I would thing of avoiding during peak traffic hours since the outlet is next to the 80 Feet Main Road. The indoor section is relatively quiet and had a decent amount of chairs and tables to accommodate customers.

Now, I am not a cake and patisserie expert; in fact, not even close to trying to be one. But these are my recommendations,

  • Baked Caramel Cheesecake
  • Blueberry Cheesecake
  • Baked Strawberry Cheesecake
  • Chocolate Brownie
  • Red Velvet Cheesecake

The cheesecakes were brilliant and heavy- I suppose this has everything to do with the quality of the cheese used. I know for a fact that Philadelphia is the best-known cream cheese since it is marketed worldwide. On the other hand, I have also tried a Cheesecake made from Mascarpone cream cheese and it is mind blowing as well! I would have loved to try the macaroons and also a couple of the snacks served here- maybe, another time. For now, for what I ordered- which I thoroughly enjoyed- a satisfying experience to say the least.
